Does anyone else have a problem with pedal placement?

Recommended Posts

no complaints about the pedal positions....although with the STi pads and the little pink rubber grips I do find that my shoes slip around when its raining and my soles are wet. nothing bad has ever happened but with a manual it gets your attention quick when your foot starts slipping around on the clutch pedal.

i know that I can replace the "worn out" rubber pads by i've only got 10,000 miles on it!

The "grip" of the STI pedals, even when wet, is one of the things I liked about the STI pedal kit. I've had SS pedals in the past, without benefit of the nubs, and they were a real pain in wet, snowy or icy weather, and you would have to drive really cautiously. Not so with the STI pink nubbed pedals.

Granted they only have 1200 miles on them but I would hope that they would last at least 10x that with normal driving.

LandShark - do your pedals look like they're wearing prematurely? Where would you recommend getting replacement "nubs" for the pedals.

Also, other than WRX-LGT, has anyone upgraded their dead pedal? I'm going to do this but want to find a suitable match for the STI Pedals.

I actually really like the pedals right where they are... although I do snag on the brake sometimes when going for the gas... and vice versus. I have pretty wide feet though... they tear normal shoes apart that otherwise fit fine.

I like tightly spaced pedals though... it allows for much easer heel/toeing.

I just go for the pedals with the side edge of my shoe instead of the bottom...

Kinda pigeon toed if you get my meaning.

haven't checked on getting replacement pink "nubs" for STi pedal grip. i hope that i can buy them from the dealer's parts dept.

i haven't gotten real "up close & personal" with the pedals to examine the wear & tear. mostly it's just a random event when the ground is wet (and in So.Cal. that can be weeks - and very soon months apart).

a look down from the driver's seat does show the pink nubs being fairly worn down.

How did you do the pedal-placement mods? Is there that much adjustability built into the pedal mechanisms or mountings?

I drilled the pedal covers as far over as possible to the base. There's about a good inch of gap that I closed up from the brake to the gas pedal and I moved the clutch to the furthest left possible. There's about an 1" increase from the clutch to the brake.

Aha! A bit crude, but effective.

And... custom for your tastes! :) I like it. Thanks.
