Project: WRXED Old man saloon

Recommended Posts

This is the a copy of my thread on Nasioc, under the conversion section:

I will try and update here along with on Nasioc as everything begins and continues.

This is going to be the thread that I am using to discuss my conversion on my legacy. Basically it will be a project that will last over a couple weekends and part buying taking place between wrench time, the typical normal thing to do.

I had Nasioc as a resource for most of the information I received and that information that I will be sharing is that that was given to me from others who have done this and others who know what they are doing. 99 rs, Legacy 1907, and Zephyr have already supplied me with a lot of information about what to expect.

However here is the low down to those who are itching to know what is going on. After 6 months of owner ship and 4 months of the car actually running I've blown 2 ej25's. The stocker, then a phase 2 build with my phase 1 external bolt ons. I love my 98 legacy gt, and wouldn't have flown 1200 miles to get it if that wasn't the case.

It's a 98 legacy gt bd (sedan) 5spd. I will be dropping an ej205 out of a wrx into it.

I will spend most of the first few weeks preping wiring, and starting to do the lovely merge. After that the engine will be in, after a few crossmember mods, then from there things should move quickly.

There will pictures and information to go along the way, and of course I'll try and anwser any questions anyone has. I can't wait to start this project, and if it wasn't for a cousins wedding this weekend things would have started quicker then I had planned.

I am still trying to seek parts so I best get to that...check out my for sale thread if you need any ej25 engine parts...http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1554217

I beat the snot outta my car, I mean bad, really bad. I've actually missed a few shifts and gone from 3rd to 2nd at full whack and still haven't blown anything. What the hell are you doing to those things?

I also would like to know how you have blown so many engines. I had a 95 impreza and literally beat it till I thought it would blow and nothing... not even a tick. First gear at redline in a muddy feild should have done it and didn't haha.

First engine went on the way back from florida after I bought the car. Internal HG failure took out a rod, this time i got the engine from a friend at school who did an ej20g swap, and when it went in it ran great, then had a knock sensor code show up when it was started cold, mixed with a pretty good leak down the rear main, she lasted 7k before blowing...tonight i will know for sure if it's a rod issue when the oil pan comes off...
