jonklein611 Posted June 23, 2008 Share Posted June 23, 2008 Ok, I know this should prob go in older legacies, but I need to rack everyones brains. I've got a 96 Legacy L Wagon with around 175k and a replaced tranny from god knows where. I pulled my CEL and it's a bad vehicle speed sensor, part of the transmission wiring harness. Only problem is, since the tranny doesn't match the orrig one, my local dealer has no idea what to do. The part that they ordered in was similar, but the lead was too short to the VSS. I've got the SN from the tranny, but not the VIN from the car that it was out of (thanks a lot AMCOO). My local dealer says they can't do anything until they find out what the vin is on the car that the tranny came from. Help??? The one on my car now looks and mounts very similar to the one pictured here: http://autorepair.about.com/library/faqs/bl833h.htm NOTE: this is not the Spedo sensor, it's the rear one on the right hand side of the tranny.
