Kaycy
At last the Exiga is out and here are the official pictures: At 4740 mm long and 1775 mm wide, the Subaru Exiga is closer to the size of a Forester than an Impreza. It also gets a stretched 2750 mm wheelbase to match. Engines are 1994cc flat-fours, either naturally aspirated (146bhp) or turbocharged (222bhp). The 2.0GT Turbo comes with standard symmetrical 4WD and a five-speed auto 'box. Naturally aspirated models have a four-speed auto and either front or four-wheel drive. Another key feature of the Subaru Exiga - its name is a mix of Exciting and Active - is the long, flat 1660mm roofline with optional panoramic roof. Big sunroofs are very much in vogue in Japan at the moment. BENCOB
At 1st look its front reminded me of the mazda 2.3l wagon and the back resembles the honda odyssey. Anyway, I like it and, being a 7 passenger vehicle, I will be interested in the Exiga if/when it makes it to the USA. I've been trying forever to get my wifey out of the windstar and into our 2nd Subaru but she won't give up the 7 passenger + cargo capacity...... BernardP
2750 mm wheelbase is longer than the current Legacy's wheelbase (2670 mm). So in all likelyhood, we are looking at the next Legacy platform, design cues and interior. EDIT: Tribeca wheelbase is 2749 mm...Mmmm...
twisted
good to see they found use from leftover legacy hood scoops also seems like they didnt add any front foot-room or width to this. 7 seater probably means - 7 seats and now all sit in relatively more discomfort with less knee and leg room. hutru01
I think I would have to see this car/van/wagon/suv in person to make a true judgement. My initial impression is not that great though.

PhilT
Those are the vehicles NA that haven't been selling. Soccer moms won't buy a minivan without sliding doors, the fact that minivans aren't selling well is more to do with fuel prices than design. Hell, even the Mazda 5 has sliding doors, and I guess that doesn't sell either Double Award Winning Legacy GT Wagon
Jerboa113
:vomit: a migration back to optional AWD is a move in the wrong direction in my opinion. "its what makes Subaru a Subaru" afterall.. without AWD and a good performance boxer engine, this Subaru is an overpriced unattractive failure. I'm sure it will sell fine in japan. This thing isn't coming over here at all is it? I wouldn't imagine it selling well here.. although.. people bought the Pontiac ass-tek. is it just me or do the headlights have a blue line in them? reflection? or an ugly design or some kind of jdm dot thing? stingray1967
Oh my lord that is hideous.....I hope they don't produce it. I love the styling of the current LGT and Outback. I own an 05 LGT and am fixin' to swap out our Jeep Liberty for an Outback 2.5i for the Mrs. That thing is hideous!!! Oh, and about the comment earlier about "without sliding rear doors it won't sell in NA", I would just offer up that Dodge (the king of minivan sales) just recently launched a new rig WITHOUT sliding rear doors. (Journey) It'll be interesting to see how well it does. http://www.dodge.com/en/2009/journey/

Hell, even the Mazda 5 has sliding doors, and I guess that doesn't sell either Soccer moms are defecting to CUVs and have been for awhile now, and these vehicles tend to get worse gas mileage than minivans. Kaycy
:vomit: a migration back to optional AWD is a move in the wrong direction in my opinion. "its what makes Subaru a Subaru" afterall.. without AWD and a good performance boxer engine .... People are being given a choice, FWD or AWD. FWD will save some fuel as the car would be lighter. It might turn out to be cheaper to maintain as well. :this Subaru is an overpriced unattractive failure. Do you have the prices already? What's the price range? :is it just me or do the headlights have a blue line in them? reflection? or an ugly design or some kind of jdm dot thing? They do have a blue light of some sought. Like the non-US Ford Focus (they are orange repeaters but nearly look the same). http://www.webcg.net/WEBCG/carscope/2008/c0000019331/zoom@0000019331_03.JPG
