RobY
http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=449052 Do you know what the backpeddle looks like? Cliffs: -Distributor claims he only carries "cast perforated" high quality rotors. -JPR claims that there is no such thing as cast perforation. -Distributor claims that he is wrong and that OEM "cross drilled" rotors have holes cast in place. -JPR raises the bullsh*t flag and provides information to back it up. Providing proof that ALL manufacturers DRILL crossdrilled rotors including OEM manufacturers and cast perforated rotors only exist in the imagination not in real life. - Distributor fails to provide any proof to the existence of cast perforated rotors citing intellectual property concerns. -JPR challenges distributor to give him the name of somebody who he can buy cast perforated rotors from. -Distributor admits that they do not have any for "his application" -JPR challenges distributor to give him any application that uses cast perforated rotors. Distributor admits that he cannot and that the manufacturer does not make them cause it would be cost prohibitive. But he "knows it can be done" So without further adieu: All these cross drilled rotors are actually cross drilled using a drill: * MOV'IT - states their holes are cast, but once you get in to the details, it turns out they mean that channels are cast into the vanes. The actual holes in the rotor face are made with a 4.3mm drill. * Brembo - holes are drilled, not cast * StopTech - holes are drilled, not cast * Zimmerman - holes are drilled, not cast * Wilwood - holes are drilled. not cast * Racing Brake - holes are drilled, not cast * AP Racing - holes are drilled, not cast * Performance Friction -holes are drilled, not cast * SHW - the manufacturer of Porsche and BMW Motorsports rotors. Drilled, not cast. * Porsche - holes are drilled, not cast So there you have it the myth of cast perforated rotors. Comments, rebuttals... I think he made a very convincing argument... Knight705
i didn't even know this was an issue. no one would make a cast perforated rotor for just the cost alone. why make a mold to accommodate that, when they already got perfectly fine molds to make the rotor blanks and a already perfected system of drilling them
