c-lo
I've been thinking about getting a new radar detector.....but I'm taking my first road trip to PA this weekend and I have an old Viper radar detector I thought about using for the trip. Is this thing still reliable or has the technology changed for what cops use to shoot radar now a days? I know it won't pick up laser. 258k miles - Stock engine/minor suspension upgrades/original shocks/rear struts replaced at 222k/4 passenger side wheel bearings/3 clutches/1 radiator/3 turbos
D-2.5-GT
I am sure it will still work somewhat, but to be honest, technology has changed significantly and chances are they will have you before that thing even goes off.

c-lo
Guess it wouldn't hurt to try it, Not like I'm doing a Cannonball run or anything, I'll have the family in the car. Thanks for your input!! 258k miles - Stock engine/minor suspension upgrades/original shocks/rear struts replaced at 222k/4 passenger side wheel bearings/3 clutches/1 radiator/3 turbos

brad21
It's probably still good for X and K band radar. A lot of cops are using Ka band now so that's the only one you'd probably miss. Better than nothing for sure. I have an old Escort (definitely older than 10 y.o.) that's in the wife's minivan still and it works.
