Blazin2000
i was just about to start a compilation of stock painted wheels thread and came across this one. I'm also going to paint my stockers within the next month and would like to see what others have done.
mikeislord
Alot of people have done it. Most seem to go with either Black or Gunmetal.
Spoonwacker
I know MattG powdercoated his stockers gray - they look sweet. I painted mine bronze using Duplicolor wheel paint, and I know a few other guys have done bronze, too. I kind of like it, but I might go back and do them in gray or black because it'll fit better with what I'm going for with the car. mcsquish
I had mine painted, looked MUCH better. My only issue were the stone chips and the paint rubbed off at the lug nuts.

Blazin2000
that duplicolor bronze was what i was thinking of painting my '08 wheels. what color primer did you guys use gray or black? if i use black primer under the bronze paint it will come out a little darker. this pic uses Duplicolor black primer with Duplicolor bronze wheel paint and Krylon Matte Finish clear coat. http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d62/subie04/other%20pics/bronzewheel.jpg
bmononana
I'm thinking of doing this as well, but I would use the color they call "graphite" but it looks like a lighter version of gunmetal - anyone one used that color? Interested to hear the answer to the primer color (black v gray) and if it makes a difference in the final color...
N.sane
I didnt use any primer, the paint wont have a problem sticking to the wheel as long as you clean and sand it properly.

N.sane
Neither did I, until I saw N.sane's! No primer for me; just hours of sanding and cleaning. Thanks for the compliment I actually wasn't TOO happy with the bronze, I was expecting something less brown, a la "CE28N bronze". I'm repainting them satin black soon to match my black grill, headlights, and upcoming RavSpec front lip Going back to topic, the Duplicolor wheel coating is very good stuff even without primer. The cleaning and sanding is very important for good results though. I just went through a stormy winter with them and it's still good as new. 2 cans allowed for 4 layers of paint on each wheel. bsax14
recently painted my stockers w/ Duplicolor graphite wheel paint. I cleaned/sanded/degreased/cleaned again/ taped off and painted w/ 2 good coats thoroughly (inside of rim as well), and 2 coats of clear. Wheels look great..alot of work but well worth it in the long run. (~8hrs total for a good job) when i got a PC quote locally for 75+ a wheel i figured i'd shell out the labor and roughly 40 bux for everything!
