rayu
I am having a new clutch (South Bend Clutch stage II series Kevlar faced) and flywheel (stock 06+ WRX) installed next week at Fastrack Automotive. When I set up the appointment they asked if I wanted the engine rear seal replaced as preventive maintenance. What's the consensus on this? Car (05 GT wagon) has 55,500 miles and uses about a quart of oil in 10,000 miles. rayu
chenc544
It's cheap insurance. It's ~$10 part and there should be very little additional labor with a clutch job.
MOMSWGN
+100 Very easy to do if your doing clutch. Like doing the water pump with timing belt.
rubberman
While you've got the trans out for the clutch, you might also want to consider replacing the throw out bearing and also one other bearing (forget the name). Sounds like the shop you are using is looking out for you, ask them about those bearings (I recall they were $10-15 each and not hard to swap). Easy insurance if the trans is already off the car.
