Sarra Posted February 21, 2008 Share Posted February 21, 2008 Yeah, that familiar cold start sound is more persistent now, even after driving 35 miles, my motor still has piston slap. I would say, use a thicker oil, something like 15W50, until things sound bad again... then it's time for a new engine! yay! It's fun, trust me. Sarra Posted February 22, 2008 Author Share Posted February 22, 2008 I am saving when I can, but bills suck. Planning on a 257 bottom end joined with the DOHC 2.5 top end I already have. Maybe using royal purple 10 W30 oil wasn't such a good idea. I found Castrol High Mileage oil really cut down on the knocking noise. The blue smoke ain't good, though. Do you get it when accelerating, or decelarating, or both? I get little puffs of it when accelerating, and a big poof, then nothing when letting off the gas.
