sduford
You just pry it out gently, it's simply a plastic ring that holds the boot in place. Sylvain www.digitalfotographer.com - Audi Q5 Club - MB-GLK Club

Th3Franz
I used a hairdryer to warm up the top of the shift boot to get it to expand a little bit and then tugged/rocked on the stock shift knob to pull it out. -Franz The end of a Legacy http://www.youtube.com/th3franz
sduford
Uh, if I recall, the plastic bushing holding it up clips on the inside of the shift knob, so making it expand would actually make it hard to pull out.
