naimouasta
ok so i just got an 08 2.5i. i really want to upgrade the headunit and fortunately its possible for us 2.5i owners. however, the only kit available is the one from metra, and it has that ugly slot above the headunit which is holding me back from buying it. for those that have done used this kit, what is the actual size of the opening? is it 1/2 din? because if it is, i've been searching for 1/2 din things i could use to fill up that spot, and i found the clarion srk5 center speaker. its made by clarion and doesn't look to cheesy, what do you guys think (especially the audiophile guys)? would placement of this speaker in the center dash be optimal and would it even improve the sound? http://www.clarion.com/us/en/MungoBlobs/693/100/SRK5,7.jpg 50-Watt Amplifier20 Watts RMSRCA Audio InputFive 3/4” Full Range 4 Ohm Speakers in a Sealed Enclosure with Two 1” Rear-Mounted Midbass Reinforcement Speakers Ported to the Front of the Enclosure

dragonman586
the slot is not a ful din size....as for options if you really dont like the look of the slot i think i have seen people cut up the kit to fit in a double din system so no more slot
naimouasta
i understand the slot in the kit is not din size, but is it half-din? because this speaker is half-din. i dunno, i'm still deciding on what to do, just looking at options. i guess i could cut it up for a double din system. BrownBoy
I'm pretty sure it's not as wide as a din, so that would probably be more of an issue that the height of the opening. I personally think the Metra adapter is ugly; otherwise, I would have gotten it. I just don't feel like spending the money to make it a double din and look better. Edit: Yep, the top slot is not wide enough for a din size unit either... http://legacygt.com/forums/showpost.php?p=341366&postcount=
HighlineCA
If obtaining a JDM double din panel is out of the question, we could make a 2.5i double din panel out of the Metra kit. Then, you can run a center channel such as the Alpine, which is a full din center. If your interested, send me a PM. Thanks, Rich @ HCA
