Does this count? I just bought this, and plan to put it on the road (after some work of course). It's an '86 IROC with the original TPI on a Buick 350 block, cam, headers, 700R4 (previous owner had it built by a performance shop), mini spool, busted ass dry rotted tires, rusted through floor pans, leaky brake line, a couple severe rust spots in door and A-pillar...

Sorry, it was dark and rainy when I took these:

Why?

'Cause I live in NYC. I live to spend 40 minutes nightly, coming home from work, just to find a parking spot across the street (alternate side parking). If I owned a house, I'd keep it. Sigh... The LGT stays in a rented garage with my bike and other toys.

Here's me on my way to work a couple years ago when I lived in Cali.

That's my ZX7R with a bunch of goodies on it and my Integra in the background.

Then this is my new Mazda 6 behind the bike when I cleaned it up.

^ Buick 350? bosco

Sorry, I have to admit that I really have no idea what the block is... I'm just going by what the previous owner said. I looked up the Buick 350 on wiki, and it doesn't seem likely since they stopped producing them in the 70s. If I could find an engine code, that might help, right?

^^^^ what kind of engine issues?

There is a slight miss at idle, poor power output, and when you get to 3000-3500 rpm's it misfires so hard it basically shuts down.

So far I have replaced the fuel pump and sending unit, fuel filter, wires, plugs, exhaust manifold (prob not related but it was cracked), had the exhaust checked out, pulled the distributor and verified that the new cap and rotor that the PO put on were installed correctly. Next up is replacing the coil and then cleaning the fuel rail and all the injectors :spin::spin:.

definately check on the coil. When they get warm, the coil packs like to get high in resistance causing low spark. Any faults? Also check the spark plugs are properly gapped ( 0.035 iirc). I also meant to ask... 4.0L or 2.5? Had a guy at work with a Wrangler that had the camshaft wear down on two lobes causing the valves not to fully open.

305 5.0 V-8 if it's a 350 then the previous owner installed it which i would doubt. http://www.camarosource.ca/php/camaro_info_db/index.php?year=1986 bosco

That looks identical to the L98 TPI on my 85 corvette. I dont think its a buick block. Doesnt make sense. Looks to me like a normal 5.7L l98 engine. If thats the case check corvetteforum.com out, lots of info on the l98 there.

Check out www.thirdgen.org they might not have answers regarding the buick block, but it is a great source for everything else.

305 and 350 TPIs look the same.
