bman
I'm planing to paint the chrome trim around the headlights the same color as the body - RBP. I checked the Dupli-Color site and they don't have that color available. I saw that some people recommended http://www.paintscratch.com/ I also found this http://www.automotivetouchup.com Anyone have any experience with either of these places? I don't have an airbrush so I'm gonna be getting a spray can to paint the headlights.
FoxHound
any body or paint shop will be able to match the paint as long as you have the proper paint code
rs6er
I've bought paint from Paintscratch.com. Worked great. If not they will take it back & try again.
bman
Foxhound, thanks but, I was thinking that a body shop will make me $pay$ just to paint the chrome trim. Thinking that a couple cans of spray will be cheaper. rs6er, how close was the color match? Did you buy a clearcoat?
Meltdown07
Tons of reviews on paintscratch products on here... SEARCH! Basically almost everyone thinks paintscratch offers a great product. They have a 3 can set of spray that include base, mid, and clear coats. Go Cardinals!
rs6er
Match was good and this was on a black metallic 1981 Porsche! If the match isn't good, they will correct it. I didn't get the clear coat because I was just doing touchup on chips
DiscoWagon
Colors may be matched correctly but after painting, it will not look as good as a professional job. The clearcoat is not as liquidy and fluid, more flat.
Gmoe
Foxhound, thanks but, I was thinking that a body shop will make me $pay$ just to paint the chrome trim. Thinking that a couple cans of spray will be cheaper. rs6er, how close was the color match? Did you buy a clearcoat? The body shop will sell you the paint so you can do it yourself. I've used one of these on a previous car with good results. http://www.prevalspraygun.com/
Wooderson
I ordered some primer, ground and mid coats, and clear coat from automotivetouchup.com. They just came in today and I plan on doing some painting tomorrow. We'll see how it works. I will try to get some before and after pics.
km580
Check with some of your local paint shops. A place near me has a meter that they check your paint with and it give an exact match, even factors in any fade. Fat people are hard to kidnap!!!
