this thread has me really scared now. i was on such a high after purchasing the avic d3, while not intending to install in the cubby, i wanted to put it in the factory unit place. but all the pics ive seen of installs have the digital HVAC controls, while mine are the manual. do i still have to re wire for my HVAC controls if i have the manual controls and wind up modding a fascia from crutchfield? i was so bummed after being told by Nest Buy installers that it couldnt be done. im hoping that IT CAN BE DONE, and not in the cubby (although that is a sweet fit) heres the link to the fascia cructhfield offers........http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?i=120998901

MAN im hoping this works. someone gimme some advice, maybe some positive info so i can get back on my high!

No, you do not have to do the extensive wiring that people with the dual zone electric climate controls have to do. What your situation would come down to is getting that kit from crutchfield and physically making it fit. Electronically you should have no issues (basic car stereo installation).

cino 135...

You have it easy compared to everyone in this thread. With manual controls you can just hack the crutchfield fascia and install in the factory head unit location.

Giving up 75HP, auto climate control, and many other perks has this benefit. (I'm in 2.5i also.)

Have you checked the japan parts website? I think I recall seeing a double din fascia for manual climate controls. the only thing with that is that the hazard switch is on the other side, but some electricians tape and some small gauge wire would be a much easier fix than putting a dremel to the crutchfield kit. The only disadvantage is that it would be more expensive, but it would look professionally done.

^^^^^^thanks guys, i was so hoping to hear this! BigT- i have checked the japan site and didnt find anything particularly related to me, although some were close. Ive got the Crutchfield fascia coming in Tuesday with eh wiring harness. it appears as if the hazard cutout is still on the RT side, as with my stock. so keep fingers crossed. Hopefully this time next week ill either be sweeping the floor of the garage and posting pics, or here on the computer fuming still trying to find a solution. Man i hope i can work this first Crutchfield fascia the first time because i love this unit, and I LOVE THIS CAR!

Good luck! Hopefully all will go well. I think I was thinking about the fascia for the auto/climate control system. If this doesn't work out, you might have the wiring to convert to the automatic climate control system. (I'm definetely not sure about this though.)

Good luck! Where in NC are you?

I'm going to be putting the Pioneer AVIC D3 into my GT next weekend I think (or as soon as I get the HVAC bezel in from Highline). Did you get any additional add-on's? I got the bluetooth adapter, the Sirius unit, and the HD-radio unit. So I have to find a place to put all those (hopefully they'll fit behind the dash somewhere).

You can pull up the carpet beneath the passenger side floor and screw them into the ground, thats what I did with my N3.
