flatsphere
My wife and I thought it would be fun to do a run to Palomar this morning and have breakfast at Mother's. There was virtually no one on the road up! We only stopped once to let a slow driver hear further up. We arrived at Mother's with the sky turning a bit black towards the NE. We sat down for a late breakfast when suddenly the sky opens up! It was a nice strong rain, with drops bigger than I'm used to seeing in SoCal... reminded me of visits to the subtropics. After about 30 minutes of this, 1/2" hale starts to fall. Mother's porch was crowded by motoriders trying to take cover from the rain. The temperature dropped by 30 degrees by the time the main part of the storm passed. The drive down wasn't as fast but was interesting... we had to avoide some minor landslides and the 76 W was a bit washed away by a river that wasn't there earlier in the day. Looking forward to the next run. Cheers!

Infamous1
That crazy as it was about 109 degrees in Highland.
flatsphere
Temp was high 90's at the top... after it was low 70's. The hail wasn't large enough to cause damage. The base of the mountain was over 100 but was in the 70's when we got back down.
