I am thinking that I will part the LGT out right after this Cripple Creek. This has been a VERY difficult decision to make....ok, tomorrow I will take this to a more informative thread in the local forum, and I will post a part out list with preference to local buyers. .....anyone up for a De-Install day life in spin cycle..... That's what I did this past spring, I was able to find a condo that had been foreclosed in a great area and I pay exactly the same amount for my mortgage as I did for rent. It might not be a house, but the way I look at it, I'll spend 3 years here (so I don't have to pay any taxes on the gain I make) and I'll be able to make a fairly good downpayment on a house and I'll have my car paid off by then as well so I can afford a higher mortgage. I know it's not buying a house, but it's a step in the right direction and you wouldn't have to make any drastic changes with your lifestyle. I had a great realtor who works great with first time buyers and is a mortgage broker as well (and because he focuses more on the real estate, he can give great rates). I was offered a sizable ($25k) down payment on a home contingent on my being debt free, as per my grandmothers request. This was her gift to my wife and I from her estate when she passed last year, but wasn't revealed to me until a couple of weeks ago. I am not debt free outside of my car, but selling it will free up enough cash to get there by the time my lease ends in May '08. Who knows, I may just buy the house and be back in an LGT by summer next year! However, I have been thinking about a condo. I watch HUD like a hawk to get a feel for how they move. The only thing that I dont like about condos is their typical lack of 2 car garages and the rediculous HOA fees that come with most of them. Scotty, thanks for the respect. Any help you can get in buying a home is great. I agree, it's extremely difficult to find a condo with a 2 car garage. I had a hard enough time finding one that at least had a carport. The Nebraska Cornhuskers, from the 1910's to the mid 30's there were known as the bugeaters then switched to the cornhuskers(CU's rival ring a bell). little history fact.
