rocco1109
Hello Forum. I have a question about my 05 LGT LTD Wagon 5MT. Launching the car from a dead stop tonight, I revved the engine to about 3300 rpm and then released the clutch and took off. The car revved for about three seconds. There was a STRONG smell of burning rubber (I am 100% certain that it was not my tires as they did not spin) that lasted for several seconds as I traveled down the road. What was that smell? Did I harm anything? Thank you in advance for any insight.
azca
you burned your clutch somewhat. Don't forget it's an AWD - gentle on the take off and then floor it if you want your clutch to last
meier motor sports
clutch stink!!! lol. take it easy on the launches my man. unlike most 2wd cars a hard launch will not smoke the tires but it will smoke your clutch
SLegacy99
And burning out a clutch is no fun. So if you do, remember you need a flat bed tow truck.
mickeyd2005
I'm going to patent fragrence impregnated clutches. By mixing in some lavender oils into the clutch compound, it will release a wonderful aroma everytime the clutch is slipped. From the new Kumho DX tires: No typical new tire smell. Designed for fitments on high-end luxury sedans, this innovative tire comes in a lavender fragrance that is activated via heat-resistant oils that are infused in the tread compound. But expect more than aromatherapy because this tire delivers a quiet, comfortable ride with remarkable wet traction throughout its tread life. http://www.kumhousa.com/images/tires/KU33.jpg
qikslvr
It has to do with how fast you let the clutch out. We all did this a few times (usually on hills) when we first got the car. Your factory clutch is plenty strong once it hooks up, but it won't hook up if you rev it above 3000RPMs and let it out slowly. The pressure plate doesn't have enough clamp force to secure the disc to the flywheel at those RPMs anless you hit it just right. It will be fine just don't make a habit of doing that. Let's kick this pig!

Use more or less to suite the scent level you desire. http://www.cooperfuels.com/nitroscentvanilla_small.jpg and for your full size pleasure http://www.motorsportsracingfuels.com/Fragrance.html FUEL FRAGRANCE - Blends clear. qikslvr
Ya know, the last time I was at the track I could swear that someone had either citrus flavored tires or fuel. When a couple top fuel cars did their burnout it smelled great and they left a nice lingering scent all the way down the track as they raced. Thats freakin sweet. Let's kick this pig!
