ShrinerMonkey
I don't think A/C has that much of an impact, but yeah, when it is under 82 degrees or so, I usually kill it in town and open the windows and sunroof. However, having the windows open impacts gas mileage as much as the A/C does (recently confirmed by Myth Busters) especially as the speed goes up. I got 32.3 mpg on 1400 mile trip with a little bit of city driving mixed in and the A/C was on almost the entire trip.
whitetiger
mythbusters only tested it during cruise situatons. they should have done the test under load situations like driving uphill. Thats where the A/C takes its hit on MPG. A/C can take up to 30hp.
ShrinerMonkey
That's just where you NOTICE it the most... when the compressor is on it is on and stealing the same amount of power regardless of your speed.

smack
to the person who said it would just as good to swap to an Sti motor, was so damn wrong.....your looking at like 7-8gs for a quality swap yo i was joking with the "little less" part, i actually have no idea how much an engine swap would be, but i would think the sti engine would be a lot more $$$$$$$$$$ but thanks for clearing that up:wub:
