VTGT
VTGT: I've run a detector for years. BEL STI remote (1st gen) and now a RX65Pro. If stopped, and the officer sees it, I will get an equipment ticket (figure $50-75 + Court costs). Wow I thought the fine was a lot higher. Seems like a radar detector would pay for itself. I have never had any speeding tickets (knock on wood) but with this unconstitutional bullshit on the horizon (tommorow) i am thniknig of picking one up. Is having a radar detector a first or second offense? Also wouldn't the cop be more of an asshole and more likely to give you the worst ticket (speeding in this case) if he does see the radar detector? Any ideas what the court fees would be, and have you ever been caught? Ok thats enough questions

Any ideas what the court fees would be, and have you ever been caught? Ok thats enough questions 1. eBay express has some GREAT deals. NIB with warranty on many models. 2. Don't know about offense counts. Either way it doesn't show on your driving record, which is the most important issue for $$$. 3. Cops react to how you present yourself. Most are just doing a job, and will treat you with respect if they get respect. Most departments I know will terminate LEO's if they receive 3 complaints on unprofessional behavior. 4. Court fees are set by the jurisdiction. I think average in the state at the moment is about $75.00. 5. Nope, never been caught with a detector, despite being stopped 7 times with one in use. (knock on wood) If you can afford it, go with a nice remote mount model. Easier to hide the components in the car, and most cops don't know what they are looking for outside the cabin. New vehicles have too many black boxes under the hood for a cop to pick up which one doesn't belong. Be glad to help you install one if you get it. TSiWRX
A note for you VA guys (and guys and gals who live in other RD-restricted areas and require VG-2/Spectre shielding). Bel is reportedly releasing, very soon, a REMOTE mount STi. <-- I love Winky, my "periwinkle" (ABP) LGT! - Allen / Usual Suspect "DumboRAT" / One of the Three Stooges '16 Outback, '16 WRX, 7th Subaru Family
highlander
Nice piece. Easy install. LGT has some good hiding places from the factory too. I hope their LASER antenna received some design improvements. TSiWRX
Nice piece. Easy install. ^ If it holds to be similar to the current Belscort offerings, then yes, install should be a piece of cake. We'll have to see when the final product comes out. I hope their LASER antenna received some design improvements. ^ More than likely, it'll either benefit from the design of the ZR3/SR_ cousins (which have exceptional reception), or, alternatively, from the improvements that Escort has made to the 9500i. I don't think that this will be that much of an issue. The true test would remain if the unit is Spectre "invisible." <-- I love Winky, my "periwinkle" (ABP) LGT! - Allen / Usual Suspect "DumboRAT" / One of the Three Stooges '16 Outback, '16 WRX, 7th Subaru Family
kober1
What I want to know is why is driving without a license only a $75 fine, and $900 civil penalty but speeding could net you a $200 fine and $1,050 civil penalty..... Shouldn't driving without a license be considered a more serious offense? No way man you think that if I forgot my wallet and just said F*ck it and kept driving and got pulled over I should get fined more than $975. I know all these fines are asinine but I don't think that driving without a license should be that serious.
SLegacy99
Thats it, my bro is moving. He was pulled over again, however he was being extra cautious. He had cruise control set to the speed limit. The officer had 5 other people on the side of the road and let him go, but the officer did say that he didnt have to, nor did he have to show him any proof of the speed he was clocked at. This is getting ridiculous.

I had a state trooper tell me that not having your license on you is only a minor fine.
