mickeyd2005
I just noticed that the 2007 Legacy H4SO engines have equal length headers. http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r69/mickeyd2005/2007headers.jpg According to Kostomojen, the WRX got them in 2006. He got a set of catless equal length JDM headers and got a few horsepower out of them. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1159523&highlight=headers http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a383/Kostamojen/HEADERDYNO.jpg If this is true then the Borla NA headers won't fit and they probably would be a downgrade. 2005 owners might want to check this auction out. The seller will ship internationally (caveat... I don't know anything about the seller): http://page3.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/c139844252 You will still need a custom mid-pipe or 2007 mid-pipe or you can get the used JDM exhaust from the same seller. Osei
the PZEV engine from 04 had equal length headers taken from the H6. Some 05's had the same exhaust configuration. (PZEV type) O.
OhBe1
How does a 4 cylinder engine get headers from a 6? 06LOB2.5i MT, JDMRSB, GYTTs, HPS, LGT Mufflers & Leather Wheel, SubiMomo Knob, Inalfa Moonroof, Clutch Switch Bypass, DeDRLd, DeChimed, & Straight Headrest. Osei
Since the headers start after the exhaust manifold, it was easy. Do a search on headers for the NA and you'll see a lot of posts on this subject. Basically Subaru used the single oval port in this design. This was not the same as the single round port of the earlier 2.2L. Henceforth only custom headers would mate to this model. O. Boostjunkie
I believe the 06+ 2.5i cars got equal length headers. I know my 07 OB 2.5i has equal length headers exactly like those pictured above.
Osei
The oval port was for the 04 PZEV and 05 PZEV engines only. the OP asked when were equal length headers started, and these engines used them. the engine code was ej253.
