Auto Crossing Racing Sacramento Northern California

Recommended Posts

I've been doing a little looking. Would like to hear from some people in the Sacramento/Northern California area who do Auto Crossing or other types of racing events.

I'd like to watch some events and learn more about the sport.

Any info will help, links to tracks set up around town etc etc.....

Thanks!

Sacramento SCCA Events:

Reno SCCA Events:

The Sacramento events are held in Stockton at the San Joaquin fairgrounds. The Reno events are at Stead Airport, about 15 minutes north of town. This year we (Reno) have had a lot of people come up from Sacramento. If you come up to Reno, my name's Nick and I work at the registration table (when I'm not competing).

Getting venues for auto-x is kind of tricky. The Sac Chapter used to hold events at Mather airfield years ago, but lost it. Since the Sacramento chapter encompasses more than just the city proper, they were forced to look elsewhere within the region. San Joaquin fairgrounds was the closest venue they could find.

They have been having some luck, though, with one event per year at Mather for the past few years. Hopefully they can get that site back. If they did, I'd travel to more Sacramento events (especially since thats where my parents live).

Sacramento SCCA used to have events at Mather, Mclellen, AND at Cal Expo... But they were booted from all three venues, other than the one Shriners event at Mather which was a couple weekends ago.

So yes, your choices are Reno or Stockton or the Bay area... :(

That Sqaw Valley event sounds interesting. I'm thinking of attending that one.
