Scalia's quote is just a dumbed down version of Confusius. "It is not sufficient for a man to be liked by all the good people in a village. He must also be disliked by all the bad people."

I don't see the correlation between "enemy" and "dislike".

Besides, chances are neither of them are first to say either quote

Equality before the law, equality of incomes—that is very well. Equality guards life; it doesn’t make it. It is medicine, not food.”

“I would sooner vote for Josef Stalin than I would vote for Donald Trump,”

-- Max Boot, a foreign policy adviser to Senator Marco Rubio

That's awfully close to a quote I made up years ago..

"I'd vote for Ho Chi Minh before I'd vote for any Republican"

Look into who finances the candidates...both sides are bought out by the same players. We all need to realize that our gov't isn't representing us, instead the fat cats on wall street, alphabet soup agencies, and other multi national super corps. Until then, I doubt we see any "Change we can believe in"

Hate to break it to you republicrats, and democans...

"If voting made any difference, they'd make it illegal"

-Mark Twain

Maybe the Republican party should re-brand itself the Commerce Party of America? Managing the economy is a very important role for the government, but it's not the only one. Republicans seem to forget this more often.

And see to me there aren't many differences between the parties of late. one and the same imo - but i guess we'll see.

What else is the role of government?
