"God, everything makes you uncomfortable. Just the tip?"

"I didn’t invent the turtleneck, Lana, but I was the first to recognize its potential as a tactical garment. The tactical turtleneck. The tactalneck."

But a serious favorite quote:

This captures the current state of affairs very well, on both an individual and national level.

People make mistakes when learning. It happens. I don't think they should be insulated from knowledge just because they might hurt themselves though. Sadly that's all too common in our increasingly socialist world - the removal, by the state, of the individual's right to fail. And in a world where you cannot fail - success is meaningless. Failure is the essence of what it means to be human and when you take that away you diminish the humanity of us all.

A parent is only as good as their (sic) dumbest kid. If one wins the Nobel Prize, but the other gets robbed by a hooker, you failed. - Sam Halpern (Holocaust Survivor 1920-2013)

“Warning: If you are reading this then this warning is for you. Every word you read of this useless fine print is another second off your life. Don't you have other things to do? Is your life so empty that you honestly can't think of a better way to spend these moments? Or are you so impressed with authority that you give respect and credence to all that claim it? Do you read everything you're supposed to read? Do you think every thing you're supposed to think? Buy what you're told to want? Get out of your apartment. Meet a member of the opposite sex. Stop the excessive shopping and masturbation. Quit your job. Start a fight. Prove you're alive. If you don't claim your humanity you will become a statistic. You have been warned.”

-Chuck Palahniuk (from Fight Club, he has about 7,000 other great quotes not from that book/movie)

“The illusion of freedom will continue as long as it's profitable to continue the illusion. At the point where the illusion becomes too expensive to maintain, they will just take down the scenery, they will pull back the curtains, they will move the tables and chairs out of the way and you will see the brick wall at the back of the theater.”

-Frank Zappa (personal favorite, although he has many too)

You're right, I did lose a million dollars last year. I expect to lose a million dollars this year. I expect to lose a million dollars next year. You know, Mr. Thatcher, at the rate of a million dollars a year, I'll have to close this place in...sixty years.

- Charles Foster Kane in the movie Citizen Kane.
