AlpineRaven Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 Does anyone have 55/100watt globes in their standard headlight and any problems occur? Just that my headlights/full beam isn't bright enough and I would like to install better lighting - that guy in auto store was against the idea. It has glass outside but not sure what inside is made out of. Are there any alternative options? Cheers AP
stanjk3 Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Don't know how your laws are, but AFAIK 55W for low beams, 65W for high beams, are the maximums for headlights in the US. I'm assuming your headlights are plastic, 100W bulbs might melt them or cause other electrical issues. Same goes for the fog lights. The fog lights on my last car, '00 Grand Am were all plastic with useless 27W bulbs. Some idiots tried 100W bulbs, needless to say the housing didn't last too long. Friends don't let friends drink cheap beer.
rougeben83 Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 get a wiring harness, so you won't melt your stock one. If it's just the high's the headlights should be fine and not melt too. go to sl-i.net and one of the members there wisconsin_mark has 85/100w bulbs in his JDM headlight setup.
