jazzymt
This is really above the head of most non-engineers without at least a Masters degree, but I thought I'd post it anyway... mmarton
I worked at Siemens for a lot of years as their U.S. PR guy for the industrial automation business. It took me a couple of seconds to realize what's going on here - since I'm not an engineer - but someone is obviously having fun with switchgear. mmarton
Just found out from a friend still at Siemens that this is a couple of years old and is well known throughout the industrial automation microcosm. He thinks Rockwell produced it for a sales meeting to make folks laugh but learn a lesson about communicating.
jazzymt
Just found out from a friend still at Siemens that this is a couple of years old and is well known throughout the industrial automation microcosm. He thinks Rockwell produced it for a sales meeting to make folks laugh but learn a lesson about communicating.I wouldn't be suprised. It looks like a rather complicated setup for a simple spoof video. The guy had to have a teleprompter too - if he memorized all that I'd be severely impressed. I could probably barely read it, let alone present it without fumbling (and a straight face). NSFW
It's even better with more context... http://www.legacygt.com/forums/showpost.php?p=928415&postcount=1 And, neener neener: http://www.legacygt.com/forums/showpost.php?p=968260&postcount=16 And, apparently it dates back to the 40's. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turboencabulator One day I will memorize the script and do it at an "open mic" event somewhere, someday. I just have to. It's just f**king genius.
mmarton
I know actors like the Rockwell presenter did a lot of memorizing for trade shows, but there's also a system that plays the script in a concieled earpiece. The actor then repeats what he/she hears.
