mbonus Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 [ame=http://video.google.ca/videoplay?docid=-5878924536670716304]EDIT:[/ame] Sorry Video pulled... Interesting Video by Best MOTORing of track comparison of 2007 Skiline(g35), 2007 IS350, and 2007 335i sedan. It is entirely in japanese, so the naration is lost on me. edit: just watched the video. In the track test they ran a Legacy 2.0 G with the other cars. Looks like they did a test of the skylines new 4WAS system and they seemed impressed. It showed a considerable improvement in the slalom.
epicbard Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Do you know of a sub? Maybe even subgroup that does this? Looks like the GT was out gunned by all of them
Jedi Pimp Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 The 335i ate the Legacy up on the straights
dr. pepper Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 The Legacy didn't stand a chance on anything remotely straight against any of these cars. But it still managed to get the 2nd best lap time of the group.
RobE Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 what time does it start on the video? edit: 1 min 36 sec http://newenglandsubarus.com/
Spoonwacker Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 So...2L turbo v. 2 3.5L N/A cars and a 3L twin-turbo...I'd say the Legacy made a damn fine showing, twinscroll or no. Too bad they didn't do a standing start in the rain :-) Sweet video! sorry...this forum practically blows goat nuts so im not always on here.Team Pony Express POSTED FROM MY COMPUTER USING A WEB BROWSER
Hanger Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 the 4 car track race starts at 24:51 mark ○ ○ ○ Instagram: itshangertime :spin: ○ ○ ○
Deer Killer Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 meh, but really, how many people will keep their legacy stock? Stage 1.5/2 LGT should still be _way_ less maintenance than a 335i. yeah yeah blah blah stock vs stock unfair etc etc, even if I upgrade to the 08/09/etc LGT it will immediately have stage 2..
godwhomismike Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 The 335i ate the Legacy up on the straights I noticed the 335i model they used did NOT have the sport package either.
wukindada Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 Surprised price wise with that test......The LGT is a good 5-7k less than any of those models. just shows me & should show Subaruthe LGT @ least needs a VF39 & HP & TQ really need to be in the 285/285 range Toyota 6EATS .........SUCK!!!!!!
godwhomismike Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 the Spec B they used was a 2.0L NOT the American 2.5L model.
wukindada Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 Wouldn't matter in it's 243hp trim:( Toyota 6EATS .........SUCK!!!!!!
tytek Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 Surprised price wise with that test......The LGT is a good 5-7k less than any of those models. in Japan or here?
Deer Killer Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 the Spec B they used was a 2.0L NOT the American 2.5L model.yeah it's even faster.. :|
NovaWolverine Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 Surprised price wise with that test......The LGT is a good 5-7k less than any of those models. just shows me & should show Subaruthe LGT @ least needs a VF39 & HP & TQ really need to be in the 285/285 range Are you serious?
wukindada Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 Very much so........ Toyota 6EATS .........SUCK!!!!!!
godwhomismike Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 I would think the 2.0 engine would have less grunt when the turbo isn't spooled up, which would make it slower on the track.
wukindada Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 The LGT is outgunned by over 50hp in every one of the other cars:( Sure the LGT is the lightest but not enough to make up for the lack of HP. As Deer stated make it a base Stage II car & it would be very interesting Toyota 6EATS .........SUCK!!!!!!
Deer Killer Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 I would think the 2.0 engine would have less grunt when the turbo isn't spooled up, which would make it slower on the track.Except it spools quicker than a 2.5 and it's turbo and the turbo flows more up top AND the engine revs higher. AAAAND it makes more power stock...
deimos Posted February 22, 2007 Posted February 22, 2007 Wow my butt hurts after watching that...raped
epicbard Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 just goes to show Subaru needs to add *voice of Jeremy Clarkson* "MORE POWER!!!" to it... also, any luck on finding this thing translated. I would like to know what they said, esp about that 4 wheel active steering...
axis008 Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 Don't forget also that the AWD helped the Subaru obtain a better laptime since the test was in the rain. Not sure why the car was paired up with the other ones, but it was nice to see it in action. Too bad the US engines aren't over there--I'm curious how it'd perform on that track. -ben
Italian32984 Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 the bmw335i in the automatic is pretty much the same as the 6 speed, actually faster at some points. Chris
hutru01 Posted February 23, 2007 Posted February 23, 2007 Take a look at the price that you are paying for each car. Thats your difference.
