NSFW
I was just looking at Perrin's before-and-after pictures of their downpipe installs, and was surprised to see how much heat shielding Subaru has put on the stock exhaust plumbing. Perrin rear section, stock front section: http://legacygt.com/reviews/data/13/11323201_large-large.jpg Perrin front, stock rear: http://legacygt.com/reviews/data/13/11323197_large-large.jpg So this makes me a little nervous. I assume Subaru had a reason to spend the time/money/materials to put on all of that heat shielding. Has anyone seen any ill effects from going without it? mikeyan
My stock piping doesn't have nearly that much heatshielding... 06 gt wagon here. But i do notice that mine has some of that heat shielding bolted to the body of the car rather than the exhaust piping. AWDxBOOST
theres nothing to worry about when puttin aftermarket downpipes on as long as they dont contact anything (as perrins "awesome" fitment often allows)
