jnd121
Hi, Performance wise, which car is better the LGT or a 328xi? Just curious (and I want to race the BEEMER!!!!) I know my buddy raced a 335i and got smoked...
LordJim
Back when I bought the Legacy, I was dead set on buying a 330Xi. One drive in the Leggy and I never thought about the Bimmer again. Sure, the BMW is the nicer car, there's no question. But when factoring in the "fun factor" the Subaru won hands down. - Jim
VXCL
same as most larger displacement cars. lgt owns at stoplight racing and on the highway the larger bmw 330s sing. MAYHEM #122/22 STS NNJR SCCA AUTOX4U.COM XENON RETRO GUIDE
bergs
BMW's inline sixes have pretty long legs so I doubt a Legacy would be able to hang above 120. I know for a fact my LGT-wagon is quicker than the new(er) 328's...
deimos
MT LGT FTW easy, unless above 85 when the snail fails
Dong Homez
I had my cousin's 328i Coupe over the weekend. That felt faster than my LGT, but not by much. I can't see the BMW wagon being faster than us.
jnd121
I've only driven the 335i, and that thing takes off!!!! I know the 328xi is 230hp, which is abit less than our cars.
John M
I don't think it's the turbo that fails you so much as the stock downpipe can't flow that kind of volume. I promise a Stage 2 car has plenty of life after 85.
jnd121
So it should be a pretty close race then. I have the 5EAT, the beemer has 6spd manual.
LordJim
> I have the 5EAT, the beemer has 6spd manual. For whatever it's worth - Cars are bimmers, motorcycles are beemers (or maybe beamers). Doesn't matter much here, but you'll never get away with that on a BMW board. - Jim
jnd121
Really!?!? I never knew what the difference was. I always knew there was "Bimmer" and "Beemer", but thought they were interchangeable. Thanks for the info!
bergs
As an ex-BMW owner (several times over) I can vouch that there is in fact a difference. There was even a t-shirt that was made explaining the difference.

DAMN is it smooth!!!!! and it moves!!! I think i could hold off a 335 from the line for a bit, but thats it. And on the highway i'm sure it would be worse. the 335 really pulls when those 2 lil snails start going. stock lgt no contest. one day we will have to go have some friendly messing around.
