Rob_07GT
For my blue '07 GT Wagon, I'm thinking 35% on the back and rear windows, 80% on the front windows. Black color. I'm a total n00b to window tinting, so looking for some feedback before I pull the trigger The CHP web site is pretty clear about the front windows not being tinted at all: http://www.chp.ca.gov/html/answers.html But seems like people can get away with 80%. I want the car to look good, but I try to avoid getting hassled by The Man. Also if there are particular film brands you recommend (or avoid) let me know. I promise to post pics when it's done! Thanks --rob
JuxtaGT
Our front windows already have a slight tint to them from the factory. I know many people who have the front windows tinted. Basically, you can get away with it for the most part. I personally don't want to give the man any reason to pull me over and hassle me like they so love to do. 80% should be safe, but know they can give you a ticket to take it off. Had mine done by Sidney at: http://www.automalltintspecialist.com/276017.html Excellent work, but can be done cheaper. Oh, welcome to the board. leggtnut
I think that is the levels I had done on my sedan. I had the it put into the deal I got from subaru of santa cruz, so I don't rememeber the price. But it was done really well. I love it and the fronts don't even look tinted, but give the UV bennifit. 4S-TURBO
Our GTI had 70% (blue) from the factory in the front. 80% is actually lighter than you need to go... http://www.tintcenter.com/laws/CA/

Hanger
i have 35% front and 20% back (i think) as matter of fact, i don't think they really care, i see people with limo tint all around, and cops just pass them by as usual ○ ○ ○ Instagram: itshangertime :spin: ○ ○ ○
edkwon
Seriously i see ppl with 5% tint on the road all the time and wonder why they continue to get away with it, makes me mad. anyways i used to have 20% all around on my old WRX, while it looked cool and the darkness was uniform, at night in poorly lit neighborhoods, it was too damn hard to see outside, i couldn't see street signs at all without rolling my windows down, got really annoying after a while. Thats why i decided to go with lighter fronts. Ed

oister
YMMV, I got pulled over twice for tint within the span of 1 month. And I didn't tint the windshield at all.

What other places have you all used in the bay area? I'm looking to tint my glass soon. Pics would be sweet too:)
edkwon
omegatintwerks in Pleasanton. does an excellent job and if you tell him you found him thru subaru club/i-club he'll give you a discount rate http://local.yahoo.com/details?id=21478044 Did mine and pretty much all subaru owners tint jobs on the east bay, charged $200 for a full set of 7 windows, any grade darkness you want. eastbaysubaru
I'm also rocking 35% front and 20% rear. That's what I had on my '93 Legacy turbo wagon and only got popped for it at the end of it's time in my possession and that was only because the tags had also expired I got the same percent tint on my '04 FXT and would recommend it to anyone. Like others have said, it's a family car and I don't drive like a *complete* asshole, so I feel pretty safe. -Brian
