My Zero Sports Exhaust

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I figured some of you might want to see this. I picked it up last night and went to a friends house to hang it. It took me 5 months to get because there was a lot of confusion as to whether or not this exhaust actually existed.

After phone calls and emails between the supplier and Zero Sports, the order was placed. This exhaust had to be made to order and is the only one in the country as far as I can tell.

It is a single exit, single can exhaust system, full cat back. It exits on the left side of the car, like every other Subaru. This is what I wanted. To me, having a duel muffler system on a 4 cylinder car makes no sense. It is just pointless weight and I don't care for how it looks. I am in the process of getting a JDM rear bumper which will take care of the other side opening in the bumper.

The fit and finish and quality of this product are second to none....typical Zero Sports. It sounds great. It has a nice deep tone, no rasp or buzz to it. It is loud, but not intrusive and not bothersome at cruising speed. The piping is 2.75 inch's from DP back. I know that 3 inch's is preferred, but I don't have any crazy power plans for the car, so this is not a problem. The biggest I will go will be an 18G.

The only problem we ran into is where the mid pipe mounts to the DP. I have a first run Perrin catless DP in the car. In typical Perrin fashion, it fits, but not perfectly. With the stock exhaust it kind of pulled on the system a bit, but it was not very noticeable. When we bolted this system to the DP it pulled the system toward the outside of the bumper, causing it to sit off center in the bumper cut out. It is very close to the bumper, but doesn't touch. This is unacceptable to me. I am going to install the longer Kartboy hangers today to give myself a little more room, but I am planning on getting a different DP to rectify the problem fully.

Unfortunately, I forgot to take pics of the mid pipe.

Enough of my babbling, on to the pics:

Big thanks to Fizz Autosports for getting this for me at a great price. They are the best. Let me know what you guys think. Look for a Perrin DP for sale real soon.

I like the muffler/tip. When are you getting rear bumper? I would love to see pictures when you have the new JDM rear bumper attached.

I happen to love dual exhaust.

I'm probably the only person that has Wu-Tang Clan and Paul McCartney on their mp3.:p

It doesn't move....It has to do with exhaust flow. The article I read about it was a really bad Japanese to English translation.

I'm not sure it really does anything.

Well either way, the exhaust looks killer. I agree the dual is overkill but 'americans' associate dual exhaust with performance, so I understand why SOA went that route. I would like to see what the JDM bumper looks like with the single.

Thanks man, no bumpers till spring. Once I put them on and get tires for my new wheels I put some new pics up......Things are finally starting to come together for me.

I understand why SoA went with dual exhaust. It's because FHI released the 04 LGT with dual exhaust, so when it was brought over from Japan for 05, they weren't going to switch to a single exhaust.

Anyways, I'm not a big fan of single exhaust when there's two cutouts, but I'm guessing you're fixing that.
