Helfrick
Just noticed a squeaking noise coming from my 05 Outback. I jacked it up and pulled the wheel. The noise is coming from the front pad. I have a sound clip, just looking for a place to host it.
Edvig
Which wheel are you squeaking from?
Helfrick
front passenger. It only does it when cold. Can't hear it when the car is moving. It's probably nothing, but I'm curious.
Trent Bates
Have you heard of the gouged rotor problem on new '05s after a couple of hundred miles? Mine had that problem. This might be related. Take off the pads and see if there's anything imbedded in them.
Edvig
My 2.5i wagon is squeaking from the rear passenger wheel. I'm pretty sure it's a rotational squeak and not brake squeak. I think I need to have the hub looked at.
BernardP
Although interesting, this thread should be moved out of the "Naturally aspirated powertrain" forum, where it seems off-topic, so that more people can see it and reply. Maybe to the general "2005 Subaru Outback" forum. Just a suggestion for moderators
agctr
Yeah a few ppl have noticed the same thing. Look for excessive wear on the rotor. If there is scoring, get it back into your dealer ASAP. SUBE555 has a similar problem witht. If there is no scoring, a few big stops should get rid of any build up of dust. Let us know how you go. Adam.
