intercede007
2005 Legacy GT Wagon Cobb Street Formula front pads Removed old pads and cleaned the surfaces. Put the molykote on the shims and pads and on the mounting surface on the caliper support. Removed the fluid resevoir cap and used a piece of wood and a c-clamp to get the pistons back into their bore. With the new pads firmly against the rotor, I can not get the caliper to go back over the assembly. It simply would not fit. It's not missing by much, either. I'm talking about a thousandth or two. I even busted out my trusty c-clamp again and tried to tighten it down over the caliper and pad assembly, but it still wouldn't budge. With new the Cobb pads, do I not need the innermost shim? I put everything back together as it came apart. Thanks Jon
PhilT
I didn't use the shims when I fitted mine, never had a problem with them. Double Award Winning Legacy GT Wagon
LittleBlueGT
I have had simliar problems in the past. Put pads w/o shims. After a couple of months if you get some break squeel put them back in. By then they will be worn enough to fit. whitetiger
I installed cobb pads and brand new rotors on a car this weekend with shims and had no problem. Make sure both pistons are pressed in the caliper all the way.
