First off we have the heat shield and it is not that loud at all in the cab with windows up. I had no ac or stereo on and sounded fine. Wife did say outside it sounds loud, but I'm inside so OK. Now, as you can see we painted the SPT (thanks to my wife). Also, I have not seen anyone keep the "snorkel' on. I did, took my dremel and cut the heat shield to allow it, still keeps heat out as the snorkel is there. Who knows how much it helps, but it can't hurt. Here are the pics.
