PhiTauFord
The idea of this post is as follows: Stealerships charge $500+ for the 30K service. People often suggest taking it to your local "mechanic" instead. I'd like this to be a sounding board. Post your local mechanic, your experience with them, and the cost for your 30K service. Maybe you know of a good shop to call... I am new to NorCal and wouldn't begin to know who else to take the car to.
mccorry
Try it yourself. There really isn't much too it. I think I spent $60 total to do my 30K service.
mwr
I got my LGT a month ago. After I saw a $740 price for the 30K service on a sign at Carlsen (dealer) in Redwood City, I started inquiring about independent Subaru shops in Marin. I found a good one in San Rafael that charges $500 (still too high). Then from this forum I found LIC Motorsports in Novato, a Subaru shop that also mods and races them. I went to see them and they're a good bunch of guys who know Subarus and the 30K service is $350. That's where I'm going. AirSix
Hmmm....Dave at Solar Reflections Performance, Auburn, WA. Just did me a 30k for under $200. http://www.solar-reflections.com/solar-reflections.html I tell myself that an N/A Forester is just an STI without all the fluff like, power, handling, style, racing heritage, and curb appeal.
