Hello,

I found a nice set of wheels and snow tires for this winter. The bolt pattern matches up, 5x100, and the offset is 40mm (in the range of 37-57 as described in Xenonk's tire/wheel thread).

So I take off one of my re92s and try to put the new wheel on. It slides in but there is not enough thread sticking out of the wheel to put the bolt on. So I figure my OEM bolt is a no no and to put the supplied bolt on.

Well the bolts my seller gave me have threads sticking out of them...and I'm thinking.. :iam:

Can anyone tell me what i'm missing?

Thanks,

Gian

You need tuner nuts not bolts.

The tuner nuts will sit inside the hole and seat properly.

An example of some cheap ones...

Don't forget that you need 20.

Hi Mickey,

I bought the tuner style lug nuts from NAPA and those won't even fit inside my wheels holes. I got the same thread size as your link, 12x1.25.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Gian

Are the nuts spline drive? Can you measure the OD of the nuts? The OD of the tuner nuts (at its widest point) should be the same OD (at its widest point) as the bolts that you have shown in the picture.

I have no idea why they won't fit. I have never heard of 12x1.25 tuner nuts not fitting. However, I have never heard of Maxxim brand wheels either.

Can you post a picture of the nut that you bought sitting on top of the hole?

they sent you lugbolts because they thought you had a vw is my guess.

I bought the wheels used. The previous owner had an Audi TT... Maybe that explains it?

I'm not sure what spline drive means. The hole in the wheel looks like it is 11/16th of an inch wide. The Tuner Lugnuts I bought from NAPA are acorn style and 13/16in wide so they won't fit. The bolts that I was given are 11/16in and fit snug.

Maxxim Wheels responded to my email and said any conical style tuner lug will fit. I sent them this link to make sure it will fit:

Thank you Mickey!

Thank you Moto!

The wheels now fit great with the conical spline drive lug nuts. The Semperit Sport Grip tires work great so far in the rain. They squeel in the dry if I take a hard turn but i'm guessing that is because of the soft rubber. This is my first set of real winter tires, so I'm pretty excited.

Again, thanks to everyone who helped me!
