ShaggyGT
Got the guages installed last night. Everything was pretty straight foward and the Defi's were of course very easy to hook up. The face plate fit perfectly and it looks awesome. I will get some pictures up today and explain the installation prodcedure. -Matt

ShaggyGT
I ended up removing the door from the storage compartment, once I did this it freed up quite a bit of room to mount the face plate. I had to cut a small portion off the storage box itself, you can easily see what needs to be removed. I decided to mount the controll unit in the glove box since that would make running the wires alot easier, especially since you can see the side of the glove box from inside the dash where the storage compartment goes. I ran all the wiring for the sensors through the spot where the wiring harnes goes through the firewall, which seems to be the only access spot that I could see. It took me a total of about 4 hours to install the guages, not including the face plate, alot of it was finding the source's for the controll box and fabricating the storage box and the glove box. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask. -Matt
KevinSoD
looks very nice.... i'm going to use the BF series with the white reading (to match the main cluster) i want to mount them in the actually flip-up door and and have an XM commander behind the door like this ;) might have to mount the xm piece a little further back... anyone know if defi makes a thinner gauge? ShaggyGT
Blitz guages are the only ones I have seen that are really flat. Defi's will not fit in there with the method you are considering. -Matt

Would it come with precut holes for 60mm gauges? -Franz The end of a Legacy http://www.youtube.com/th3franz
MaStaMooN
Hows the view of the guages? Would you be able to angle the faceplate a little towards the drivers seat for a better view? Jon - vBGarage Profile
ShaggyGT
Yes, the face plate will come precut with any sized holes you want. I can fit 2 60mm, 2 52mm, or 3 45mm. You just have to let me know what size guages you are going to run. The view of the guages is perfect, and they are somewhat angled towards the driverside since the center console is at an angle to begin with. I am sure there is a way you could angle it more but it would take a bit more custom work on the storage compartment. -Matt
Deer Killer
Can you get some pics of how it looks from outside the car? Thanks. Perhaps too showy for me.
ShaggyGT
Yeah I sure can. Its not really all that "showy" so to say, but it does look really good. I will get some night shots and some shots from the outside of the car up soon. -Matt
CDubbs
Bah been following this thread for awhile but the internet access at this mideast airbase likes to block personal pages, anyone willing to volunteer to email me the pics? Will PM the addy if so. Thanks in advance, ~Chris No, the name has nothing to do with bragging about 20 inch wheels...
axis008
Weird, the pictures don't work for me either. Kevin! Haven't seen you on here for a long time. I thought you were going to get a Legacy next year! Anyways, I like your install. I'm not sure if Defi makes a gauge that is thinner, but I definitely like your idea. Edit: ShaggyGT's personal website only allows 33MB of bandwidth per day! -ben

I'll be placing my order as soon I get my tax return (or audit) in February I came across the new autometer nexus gauges... they actually do the same thing as the defi with daisychain, record, playback, fullsweep, etc. I'm hoping they become available in 52mm... maybe they'll be a little less deep. The cool thing about the Nexus system is that you dont have to have their link unit in visible sight to use it effectively I'd like to make as much use of the car as possible... perhaps put a DVD player down by where the ashtray is... i dunno so many ideas... all i know is that my Spec B rims are on a boat heading to Texas :D
