dvdt
Going to attempt to install my UP/DP this weekend. Anyone want to help/supervise? http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b71/dv2dt2/CIMG3931.jpg So I've been reading a few of the install theads and I have a stupid question. I think I have all the tools but what is an O2 senser socket? I'm not sure if I have this. Can I use a different tool to get it out or does anyone have one I can borrow? thanks Ray
whitetiger
no need for an o2 sensor socket. all you need is a 7/8" closed end wrench.

Guest
Get the Bosal heatshields welded. They will come apart like they do on STI uppipes (which is the same but with Subaru logo).

dvdt
This is the only pic I found by searching: http://www.pimpmyauto.com/Legacys/pic_updp.htm According to this thead it is not a full belmouth, just semi. http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31794&highlight=flow Can anyone educate me more on this semi belmouth situation? Should I have any concerns?
mickeyd2005
It looks like they took the 3" pipe and flattened it to make an oval. It's a bellmouth, but I don't think the bellmouth opening is as large as the turbo outlet opening. In other words, there is going to be a flange edge exposed to the exhaust stream. In order to make a bellmouth that mates up to the turbo, you would need more material than is available with a 3" pipe. This is why the Cobb DP is a casting that is then welded onto a pipe. Put the gasket on and compare the openings. http://legacygt.com/reviews/data/13/496DSCN2402-large.jpg

Spinjockey
I picked one up at Autozone, unfortunately it's a little too long for the EGT probe in the UP, just the O2 in the DP (next to the 3rd cat). Let me know if you want borrow the O2 socket or would like help with the install. We could double up on the UP as I actually still need to do mine (ran out of time). JuxtaGT
Where are you guys? I saw dv/dt on the road once, so not too far? Have done this a few times on my car if ya'll want help. As for the shorties design, anything is better than the giant ceramic cat just after the turbo.

dvdt
Well, the extra power is nice. I have not had many chances yet to open it up and I think the ecu is still learning/optimizing. Basically feels like the power is coming on sooner and pulls longer. It does not ramp up to a peak as much as stg1. So far, it pulls strong and smooth. It's not scary fast but definately an improvement. Have some fun new turbo noises now too. Huey, glad you're happy w/ the new suspension. I was impressed how much of a difference it made. The RE92s are actually okay now. Go figure.
