Trade LGT for M3 Convertible?

Recommended Posts

It had more groans, creaks and rattles than a retired bull rider.

Sounds like my father's '05 CLK55 convertible (which only gets driven ~40 miles/week). All of the plastic bits on the top of the dash seem to rub/creak together anytime a road imperfection is encountered.

This is ironic-- I'm actually *downgrading* from a 2004 E46 M3, and possibly into a Suby, with the Legacy high on my list. And, all this in the name of savings and cost reduction.

Latest part to go / fail, within 30K miles: "hydro unit" of my SMG tranny. $1500. Sure, it's covered under BMW's full maintenance program for now, but the frequent visits (time = $) and possibility of it failing in the future was pretty much the straw that broke the camel's back for me.

http://www.yahoo.com quotes the M3 as costing "$1.05 / mile" to drive...
