The annual SIA tent sale started Thursday, with vehicles from the Bob Rohrman Subaru dealership on display is a grassy area outside the plant and being sold to the company's workers. "There are extra incentives for associates to purchase at this time," said Julie Cole, manager of associates services at SIA. "People really look forward to it." Joseph Falter, general manager of the Rohrman dealership, said standard deductions, coupled with incentives that Subaru makes available to SIA employees, combine to create an attractive offer. For example, the $24,700 sticker price for a Legacy Special Edition sedan is cut to $18,203 with all the incentives available to associates. "This is really a great deal," said Jeff Williams, a production control manager and 17-year SIA employee, who was joined by his wife, Lynel, Thursday in buying a 2006 Legacy 2.5i Limited sedan. "We take a lot of pride in what we produce here and the quality we put out." Falter said response from SIA associates has been "overwhelming" and the company provided assistance with items that range from traffic safety cones to Internet access on the site. "Subaru brand recognition is very important. The more people see them on the road, they understand it's a quality built vehicle. The more Subarus there are on the road will open sales up to a wider variety of customers." Mike Mattingly, a human resources and associates services specialist with SIA, said cooperation between the SIA and Rohrman creates an advantageous situation. "It's a great opportunity for us to have a relationship with the local dealership. Some of the costs are ours, some are theirs," he said. "We can pretty much do everything in one location." Industrial Federal Credit Union also has a tent set up on the property to assist SIA associates with financing. Carla Frazier, a 16-year SIA employee, took advantage of the tent sale and associate discounts to purchase an Atlantic Blue 2006 Legacy 2.5i sedan Wednesday. "I wanted something that gets good gas mileage and is very reliable for driving back and forth to work. And I liked the color," said Frazier, a Delphi resident who works in the Subaru engine plant. "It was an excellent deal. I like the rebate they gave, and SIA gave a rebate. I got about $4,000 off." PGT
from my short time in the industry, margins to the manufacturer were about 50% for the mid-price market (like an LGT)

Invoice for a 24,160 SE with auto / fog lights and other whistles is 22,275 invoice, I think it's a damn good deal for them. When my mom is finally ready for a new car I will be steering her towards a 2.5SE If everything seems under control, you're just not going fast enough. - Mario Andretti

Jon in CT
I think SIA employees can buy a new Subaru at 4% under dealer invoice plus they can take advantage of any incentives Subaru is offering to the general public. They get that advantage year-round. This annual tent sale might offer even higher discounts to SIA employees, maybe to help clear 2006 inventory. red beast
this is a way for a munufacturer to "purge" other car makes form their parking lot at the plant. people at gm plants that own non-gm cars must park in the furthest location from the plant. Taxdude
That's messed up! You would think that GM would let them park closer so that the designers can look and see how real cars are made! +
BOY
+1 At SIA the p-lot is mostly non-Subaru... sad really. What's also really sad is that I'm a Bob Rohrman Subaru store but I'm 2 hrs away from the plant Tent sale, bah
