axis008
This shouldn't be a repost, because it came out a few days ago and I don't remember reading anything about it. :) http://vocuspr.vocus.com/VocusPR30/DotNet/Newsroom/Query.aspx?SiteName=Subaru&Entity=PRAsset&SF_PRAsset_PRAssetID_EQ=90142&XSL=PressRelease&Title=Releases&Cache=True "CHERRY HILL, N.J., Aug. 31, 2004 – Subaru of America, Inc., the only car company that features Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive as standard equipment on every vehicle in its product line, today announced the 2005 Subaru Outback earned the highest rating in the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) crash tests. The new Subaru Outback received 5-stars in both the frontal and side-impact crash tests for both the driver and passenger seating positions." So the Outback beats the Legacy in side-impact crash tests? Cool! Good news for Jedi and others :D. -ben

outahere
Not surprising, in that it is much easier to score well on the NHTSA side impact test than on the IIHS side impact test (Legacy was tested by IIHS). I bet even the Legacy sedan or wagon would get top scores on the NHTSA test. Wait for the IIHS to test the 2005 Outback before you start celebrating. Their test of the 2005 Legacy sedan had mixed results.
