Beach
Hi All, I am fairly new here, in fact so new, I dont even have my car yet I would like to know if any of you have information about this idea that I have. Is it possible, on a legacy gt wagon, to go from a lowered stance in summer to outback ride height during winter without changing out my springs every season? Do any coilovers offer that range of adjustability? I want the sporty stance and performance in the summer, but I want SUV ride height for winter, (chopping curbs, snow banks etc) Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! PGT
yes. height adjustable coilovers. see pic below....2 inches higher in the rear and 1 inch in the front. You need to get the car realigned twice a year (which isn't a bad thing really). http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y124/PatagonianGT/DSC00090small.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y124/PatagonianGT/DSC00089small.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y124/PatagonianGT/DSC00094small.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y124/PatagonianGT/DSC00093small.jpg
Jaxx
could be done by changing the struts and springs together (buy ob springs and struts complete) and swap them .. it only takes about 45 min the proublem is that it will throw your front alignment out of wack -so $60 each time you chagne For what its worth i just went through one of the worst winters in 5 years on h-techs (i work for a ski resort) & yokohamma iceguards
Beach
coilovers were my obvious choice, but I was skeptical to think that a coil that drops a legacy 1'' or 1.5'' from stock can also make it UP to stock OB ride height. can it actually make it or is it ''close enough''? PGT
well, the current OBXT is really high. I don't think any coilover will go that high (nor would you want to), but you can certainly split the difference between the OBXT and LGT.
Beach
the reason I ask, is that I drive a Murano right now, and with the snow we get up here Montreal Quebec, the SUVness of the Murano saved my Butt a couple of times, going over snow banks, drifts, or quite simply hoping over the curb when needed. How high do your coils go? have you ever seen their maximum ride heights?
PGT
if you are that worried about it, then you need the OBXT. The LGT with coilovers will never go as high as a Murano.
Beach
Not worried, just trying to get the absolute best of both worlds . I am definitely interested in the handling the legacy can produce, but only for the 6 7 months of summer, in winter, I wanna survive without plowing my oen driveway with my baby. thats all
Boxer2Blower
What about the other way around? If I have an OBXT that I wanted to lower, can I just swap to the LGT suspension? I read this wasn't a bolt-on thing and that the suspensions on these cars are not 100% compatible.
