It is not unheard off that car mfg pull this kinda thing. Not sure which one, but either BMW or Porsche did it many many winters ago. HIDs or no HIDs, NAVi or no, if it comes out a year later with the identical price of the older model, I would be pissed if I've already bought one. The point is, if Subaru really wants to go upscale, HIDs and NAV even as an option is the key. Otherwise, it has to play outside of the clubhouse.
