V-Power
I've had my LGT now since July 05 ... I have a corner spot in my parking garage at home and park far, far away from others in my garage at work. But, I can't help but to find how easy this car gets dinged. My Accord which I had for 6+yrs never looked this bad the day I traded it in. I shared this concern + all those dang scratches that also show to my service advisor, and he says it's because the sheet metal is thinner to keep the car lighter. Any opinions? This car is already looking three years old ... BUT, it sure drives like it's only got 14k miles!!! Still not happy with how easy this car bruises ... Wont do much for the sides however.
The_Condor
I feel your pain...a few weeks ago I noticed somone opened their door into my driver side door and now I have a nice crease in the side along with several scratches. Is it wrong to hope whoever did that burns in the firey pits of hell?? I purposely park away from people and when I have to park next to someone I give them plenty of room yet it still happens. Irrational Exuberance
good point, a clear bra with help with dings on the front of the car and hood. Wont do much for the sides however. true, i just picked up a full set of stock splashgaurds online for about $100, they do a pretty good job of keeping the sides clean (least on the wrx i had, and my moms forrester)... the Clear Bra drawback: price. ive seen em on ebay as low as 210 for the FULL cover, but it probably needs to be proffesionaly installed (the one i saw was). dont go for a cheap one, the 3M is made so it wont block UV so the paint fades evenly. theres a demo video someplace where they shoot the front end of a car with a BB gun to prove it wont chip the paint/break lights if you have the 3M on... There goes this idea. they attach with 3 screws. only hard on the front wheels, crank the wheel hard left for access to the 3rd bolt on the drivers side, and hard right for access on the passenger side. that was the case on the forrester at least, rear ones were easy "i like my women the way i like terrorists... ...screaming gods name and ready to explode." http://img255.imageshack.us/img255/5479/troy3nu5.jpg

DukeTrout
Hmm - my daughter just bumped my wife's OBXT with a car door this weekend, and it looked a lot worse before I cleaned it up. The skin is thin but very springy. You can barely tell the ding is there, and I bet it could easily be pulled back into true. The problem with door dings in thicker sheet metal is that they don't spring back, and good luck pulling them back to true... Ich bin echt viel netter, wenn ich nuechtern bin. Echt! OCDetails
have you wax or sealed it?? you need to apply something that is going to give strength to your paint. Wax or sealant isn't going to do anything to 'strengthen' your paint. All it does it keep it shiny and protect it from fading and oxidation. It makes it easier to keep clean, but doesn't do squat against door dings or rock chips. _________________________________________ “Cleanliness becomes more important as godliness becomes more unlikely.” O C D E T A I L S . Gohmer1
I notice little waves every time someone leans against the car or puts any pressure on it. It sucks...and yes, I have a couple of dings that I don't think would have happened on say...a Toyota.

Well obviously its not going to protect you from rock chips, but i have always found after a good coat of wax the paint is harder to scratch. Maybe im wrong lol. I love my car ... basically. JohnG
Just curious: what problems would the 3M Clear Bra create when/if you decide to repaint? Also, does Clear Bra have to be reapplied periodically?

Also, does Clear Bra have to be reapplied periodically? they are supposed to just peal off. its hard to find the edges on em when the cars been waxed... you gota get real close to see its there, and since its so thin and the fact that its justa big sticker thats meant to protect the paint, not replace it, it should come off easy. wouldnt think it any harder than trunk debadging "i like my women the way i like terrorists... ...screaming gods name and ready to explode." http://img255.imageshack.us/img255/5479/troy3nu5.jpg
