Beanboy
Like to get a video/still record of some events this year from the car. Headrest mounted camera mounts are gonna be a pain, since I drive with the headrest down, and the seat wraps around the base of the headrest. Has anybody mounted an exterior camera system on the LGT yet? Any particularly good spots? How about the dash? Does anybody have a camera mount or recommend a certain brand? Thanks! -B -B http://www.standardshift.com
rallispec
keefe has a system set up for his car -- can't recall exactly what it was but i think it involved a suction cup on the sunroof. I came up with a custom mount that sits in my door jam, (made out of aluminum sheet metal) when i close the door it sqeezes agains the mount and holds the camera in place. EL PAALO
what's the problem with a headrest mount on the passenger side? the one from http://www.chasecam.com/ is excellent. they also have a myriad of exterior mounting setups that I've seen work very well in person although I've only used the headrest mount. excellent service and all that from them as well. ShockerGT
I actually have a pretty redneck rigged camera mount in my car. In the back center of my sedan there is a metal attachment thing (also on both sides too). Well I took a CNC skid plate from one of my old R/C cars and modified it to fit fit then I drilled a couple of holes and bought some nuts and bolts from Lowes to bolt down the camera and mount. I had a thick rubber washer between the camera and the mount too. It works pretty good in my opinion. I'll get some pics tonight if I have the time. colatkitty
I use the headrest mount on the rear passenger seat headrest. Works excellent that way.
jazzymt
This just happens to be one of the products the company I work for makes, it's called the Cleat: http://www.powrgrip.com/cgi-bin/powrgrip/sporting_camera_mounts.html They're not cheap, but they are the best in the world. Lots of cops use them to mount video cameras to their windshield, but our biggest market is in agriculture where they're used to hold big GPS systems on the inside of tractors. Here's a video that a helecopter pilot in Iraq made for us using one.
