Driver72
I've been painting the underside of my cars flat black for YEARS. I started back in 1989 with my 1988 Mustang GT. I painted the mufflers and exhaust tips flat black. Gave the car a more stealth look. Now, with the chrome tips all the rage, I wouldn't paint the tips themselves, but the mufflers and any other steel or metal part that hangs down and can be seen from the back, heck yes, it gets painted flat black. My 02 Maxima's spare tire well hangs down beneath the rear bumper level and was painted white, the same color as the car. It got painted flat black right away. I agree, the mufflers themselves look like metal cans hanging under the car. Painting them flat black so they aren't seen looks much better. It also makes the chrome tips stand out more. I used to paint the inner wheel wells of my cars flat black too.
