DANNER
I read the FAQ which says "If you have a 2.5i with manual controls the units are separate, however there is no faceplate available to convert it for a double din unit." So what about a single DIN faceplate / kit? I was given a pioneer DEH-7700MP for christmas, but now I'm not even sure if I can install without the major pain in the ass (and cost) of getting custom work done

DANNER
Thanks fweasel. Any ideas where I can get this thing? The online metra catalog doesn't have it, but I know they must make it since there are instruction for it: http://www.metraonline.com/downloads/pdf/TurboKits/INST99-8901.pdf Has anyone ordered it? Where from?

iyalla
Ah man that is freaking cool. I did not know that. Another reason to always read the facts. Almost makes up for the fact that there are no aftermarket FRONT sway bars for the 2.5i
BrownBoy
That Metra kit is unacceptable to me. I think they could have done a better job with it. What's with the little cubby above the DIN slot. That's teh ugly to me. And yeah, too bad there are no FRONT sway bars.
Edvig
Although the Metra kit is better than nothing, I agree with NALegacy. I find the kit really ugly.

I e-mailed the metra rep for the west coast. So hopefully he'll reply pretty soon.
iyalla
That hole looks bad yes. Bet you could fit a spectrum equalizer in there instead. Or a Valentine one display. Or something else.

I'm convinced with very little custom work, that piece could be converted into a double din opening at which point you could use a standard single din pocket along with the HU or put in a double din HU. ignore him, he'll go away. BadMojo
Yeah, I'm waiting for the double-DIN variant to arrive/be created also. I think that the cubby slot looks like teh suck as well and it is stopping me from buying this unit.

DANNER
I bought the Metra Kit from installer.com for $59.33 ($73.73 including shipping). I e-mailed audio-warehouse.com who doesn't list the part but told me they could get it for $49.95 (I have no idea how much shipping is though). Anyways, I should have it by next week so I'll be able to install my new HU.
