Legacy25GT
Wondering if someone can tell me if this is a problem, or can I still mount tires on this rim. If it is a problem any ideas on where to get it fixed and possibly how much. All help is greatly appreciated... Thanks Have A Great 2006!!!! ___________________________ '05 Legacy GT LTD - Ob Black Pearl '05 Forester XT Turbo - Champagne Gold Drink More Vodka & Eat More Cashews! giotein
not a rim specialist... but... ur rims bent.. u CAN mount tires on.. but recommend u dont. u'd kill ur rim if u decide to drive. i think you could get it fixed for around 300-500 bucks cash deal at a car shop. i live in canada.. so im thinkin in canadian dollars.. EL PAALO
you may be able to get the bead to seat, but still may have balancing issues. if it's an inexpensive wheel (sub 300) then get a new one imo. if it's pricey then have it repaired for about $125 USD. Xenonk
fix them, you'll get sick of the the vibrations and the thumping along with the constant leaking air.. it's pointless to mount a tire on it until you get it fixed Keefe
OCDetails
Good luck getting it fixed for $125. That is a good price for curb rash repair, but a bent rim can cost twice that. By the time they make the wheel round and repaint it you will definitely be looking at some cost. _________________________________________ “Cleanliness becomes more important as godliness becomes more unlikely.” O C D E T A I L S . Guest *Jedimaster*
It's only bent on the one side-take it to a tire shop and ask them to mount a tire on it for you.
EL PAALO
125 is what i was charged by wheelsamerica for a bend repair and refinish of the polished lip and powdercoating of the spokes.

Boostjunkie
No way in hell you should run your car on that wheel. A tire will likely seat and hold air, but it will vibrate like crazy at speed. I've had a slight bend on one wheel on another car which you couldn't even see until I had the wheel on a balancer and then you could just barely see a tiny wobble on the inner edge. I could feel the vibrations from it though the steering wheel. Get 'em fixed.
OBieXT
I fixed a wheel for my RX-7 once that was bent much worse than that. You could stick your thumb between the rim and the tire. I used a lot of creative persuasion from a hydralic jack and a 2 lb sledge hammer. It wasn't complete striaght, but it wasn't a lot better than what your wheel is now. I noticed a bit of vibration, but not much at all and it was a much lighter car than the GT. I've been told aluminium tends to revert back to the shape of it's original casting when bent and thus can be straightened whereas steel tends to move back to the bent shape if you try to straighten it. There must be something to it as the last time I had the wheels off the 7, I couldn't tell which one had been bent.

In this way U'll cut the vibes almost up to minimum- but U have to be sure if it's not leaking. I bent my rim by brick (on highway:icon_surp ) with +/- 60mph, looks worst then this one but no leaks at least. BTW is it worth to repair Stocker (17")

I just mentioned that a small defect will not go unnoticed and that is would be much better to fix the problem then to think you can gloss over it. But for a short term with whole safety rules i thing it's Ok.
