Need advice on buying new/used engine

Hey I’m looking for a new/ used engine for my legacy 3.6r and not really knowing what sites to trust so I was hoping if I posted some links of some engines I’ve found if you guys would give me insight into it. My other question would be can I swap in a jdm ez36 engine into it. Any help would be appreciated.

Also, try the Outback forums.  Lots of people there with the 3.6 on basically the same car who may be able to give advice.

I personally went through PMP Auto in the Northeast. Talked to Pete directly. Gave me excellent prices on low mileage long blocks. I've blown my engine twice and had to replace it (track abuse), first time was $800 second time was $1200, and like ~$200ish in freight. You can also use 3.6's all the way up to 2019 too, only thing you have to change is moving over the old main harness, transplanting the hydraulic steering pump (15-19 is electronic), and re-doing the angle of one rubber line up near the master cylinder. Other than that, it's plug and play. Most recent engine in my a 2019 that had 19k miles on it.
