brawlking
Good Morjing Everyone. Been a while since I posted on here. This morning my car died on me on my way to work. 2013 2.5i. The battery light came on, then all the lights came on and I got pulled over and it shutdown on me. I was able to start it again using a battery pack but it died again within 2 mins. When the car is running my battery is only reading 11.3 volts. I'm assuming my alternator is done for but could it just be the battery? Battery is about 3 1/2 years old. Is there anything else I should be looking for?
Alexmed2002
Definitely sounds like the alternator for sure. At that point with the age of your battery, I would consider changing it along with the alternator to be on the safe side.
silverton
^ What they said. Battery starts the car, alternator keeps it running. but if the alternator hasn't been able to charge the battery sufficiently it will also go bad. creep_nu
concur...alternator...if you live in a cold environment i'd invest in the new battery as well, but if you live in a warm climate i'd maybe skip it if funds are low. alternator's right on top of the engine and is super easy to change out yourself
