New to the forums-Just bought an Outback

Recommended Posts

Hey all, I've just joined the elite Subaru crowd :)

I've been looking for months here in MI with no luck, but finally found one.

2000 Outback Limited, 5 spd with 80,000 miles.

I don't know much about cars, just some of the basics. So my question is, what do I need to know specifically about this car. Any history of problems on anything, recalls or maintenance I should be aware of? Any fun and cheap upgrades to consider?

Everything works great on it right now, but I want to get off on the right foot with it. This is my first real car and from the little time I've had with it so far I definitely want it to last forever!

Thanks in advance everybody

congrates on ur scooby purchase. check cv boots-- more than not ive seen axles go bad on the scoobies because of that. Also owners manual--80k-- what needs to be done or should of been done already.

Bigg Hint-- go to the search link on top of the page-- that will help find most or maybe all of ur answers.

On ultimatesubaru.net and subaruoutback.org there are several sections devoted to head gasket problems. Read them. Know them. If the previous owner had some service done they extend the warranty on the head gaskets to 100K. You want this.
